Welcome to The Larks

The Larks Nursery is a vibrant and bustling Early Years community caring for, and educating, children from three months to five years. It boasts unrivalled facilities and is working towards securing the prestigious Surrey Quality Assurance Award.

As part of Hazelwood School in Oxted, a provider of the finest education since 1890, we understand the value of a good educational start in life, and the invaluable foundations which it lays for each individual child. Indeed the school’s Oak Reception classes are located on The Larks’ site in order to allow our children to progress seamlessly through their Foundation Stage education on the same, familiar site, growing in stature and enthusiasm as they continue on their very important learning journey.

Our experienced staff work tirelessly and imaginatively to give every one of our children the very best start in life possible. They are carefully chosen for the skills and expertise which they bring to our setting. It is because of their commitment and dedication that The Larks was commended by its first Ofsted Inspection for its ‘well qualified staff’ and ‘high levels of care’. More recently our parental Happiness Survey showed that 97% of parents were happy or very happy that their child was safe, secure and happy at The Larks. Achievements of which we are justly proud and work hard to maintain.

No two days are ever the same at The Larks. We are dealing with unique characters and personalities who respond to different stimulus and activities. Our classrooms, and level of care, are set up to respond to these very individual needs of each child in our care. We believe in the importance of learning through play, inside and outside of the classroom, and enjoy fabulous fresh air facilities on the door step of each of our rooms. We offer specialist music and games lessons for all of our children from the age of two years.

The Larks is built on the foundations of partnership and participation. We work closely with all of our parents, preparing and sharing Learning Journals for each child charting their progress. We regularly host music and drama performances to which family and friends are invited. Sports Days at The Larks are great family occasions and not to be missed! At Christmas time nearly all the children are able to take part in a concert or a nativity play of some kind. We celebrate their growing confidence and talents with immense pleasure.
